Vehicle Inspection for Uber & Lyft Drivers in Colorado

FACT: the #1 reason drivers put off their application is the vehicle inspection.

Let’s face it, with our busy schedules, it’s just not convenient to go to a local mechanic to get an inspection in Colorado – it costs money, time (which for Uber drivers especially, equals money!), gas, and frustration. Not to mention that most mechanics will give you a laundry list of things that are wrong with your car, that may not even be relevant to the RideShare inspection requirements! What a headache…!

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to do any of that anymore for your Colorado inspection! What if you could complete your vehicle inspection:

  • From the comfort of your driveway
  • In under 15 minutes
  • Low cost
  • During extended support hours
  • Scheduled appointment or on-demand appointment

With a company that:

  • Has completed over 20,000 inspections for RideShare Drivers
  • Has over 1,000 5-star reviews on Google
  • Is a certified mechanic
  • Offers both Uber and Lyft inspections, and provides the completed inspection form digitally

To schedule your inspection, fill out this form and specify the type of inspection you need

Colorado TNC medical exam for RideShare drivers

One of the requirements for drivers that is very specific to the state of Colorado is that drivers must pass a medical exam, also referred to as a DOT medical (department of transportation). It is an exam that indicates an individual is physically qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle – basically the medical practitioner will check very basis heath requirements – it will be pretty much the easiest medical exam you have ever done. They literally check things such as how well you can track a moving with your eyes and push/pull with your arms or bend your back.

This is the same as the medical exam required for commercial drivers such as taxi or truck drivers, and it is required for both Uber and Lyft drivers in Colorado. The good news is that once you have one, it is valid for a full two years, and if you happen to have one due to your previous job, then all you need to do is show proof of it- there is no need to get another one specific to RideShare. And if you’re at all worried about passing the exam, just think of all those uber healthy truckers on the road who pass it every two years…! But on a more serious note, here are some of the medical conditions that can cause you to fail the DOT medical exam:

  • Poor vision
  • Diabetes requiring insulin
  • Seizures
  • Heart problems
  • Respiratory issues
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Drug use, including marijuana

Note that although the DOT medical exam is usually used for drivers who seek to obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL), you do not need to have a CDL to driver for Lyft or Uber in Colorado. The cost of the medical exam varies depending on where you go to get them, but in general, it can cost anywhere from about $60 up to over $100.

You may be wondering where to go to complete the mandatory DOT medical exam in Colorado. First of all, the Uber Greenlight Hub at 4665A Paris St, Denver, CO 80239 has a doctor on site who conducts them, but be advised that it can take a while with the amount of applicants they have there.

One of the nice things about the Greenlight Hub is that the price is very reasonable and you can have the funds removed from your first two Uber income statements, so you do not have to pay for it upfront. The Little Clinic also has offices around the country that conducts these exams, but make sure that you call in advance to confirm that they will have someone available to conduct it for you. Chiropractors are also often certified to complete the medical exam for you. In short, pick a clinic or a chiropractor near you and call them up and just ask if they offer DOT medical exams for Uber and Lyft drivers. Many of them will be familiar with this request.
